| My apology LC, yes you did have a valid point about a version of globalization. Another example would be the worldwide spread of fire ants or Africanized bees ... sorry I let one of my buttons get pushed ... sharing the joy includes sharing the misery I suppose, shrug.
In retrospect, I suppose every little tin pot dictator, with delusions are grander, has attempted their own brand of globalization from Ancient Egypt to Hitler.
As to the fact that he who has the gold makes the rules ... it has always been so. Luckily for we the people if he who has the gold forgets how he got it, and goes on a tyrannical power trip, he soon loses it ... that too has always been so. What was that quote again NC? ... oh wait it's in LC's sig.
That is the reason I do not fear big business ... the ones that last are the ones that do not incur the wrath of their customers.
Don't like the price of gas? don't buy it! Yeah I know, everyone has a everyone has their own excuse why they have to have it. One needn't even look outside the box to see that they are all just excuses. Gas has been around for what 200 years out of 6000 years of human history ... and yes you can just do it.

| Yes, Owl, and I must say, it is a great experiment. The nature of the discussion seems to be quite more pleasing than other threads that just become, as you say, quote- and link- fests.
Tosk, no worries mate. I know the Catholic Church is a sore spot for a lot of people! Anyways, you are right, if you don't like the price of gas, don't buy it. Something Stalin said about one death being a tragedy, but one million a statistic....well, along those same lines, one person is an activist, but one million, a movement; and you are right, even in today's sorry state of affairs, we the people still do retain some power. It's just getting the rest of we the people to realize that. Of course, when you live in a county, as I do, where some 80 percent of "we the people" receive some form of government assistance (welfare, anyone? Foodstamps, maybe) it is hard to get more of we the people on board, unfortunately... But that doesn't mean you quit trying... |
