A place in P&R where filleting posts, incessant linking and quoting to what amounts to propaganda, and cornering folks with one sided "facts", didn't KILL an otherwise intelligent and meaningful discourse. Even if this smoky little corner never achieves anything more than good men, and Woman, carrying on just plain good ole conversation. *prods burning log with poker* *sighs* But since it is a harmless link to good entertainment, and readers can still pass it by without changing the atmosphere(which is near cleared out. You do make a good point about the Sauds using oil funds to fund Wahabism and I have been coming round on the "Manhattan Project" type solution as well. I am leary of some of the ways the government tries to "help" though. Will the solution only make matters worse like with the Ethanol scam?
80% of the people use Welfare where you live? Wow, that is a lot.
What is the Ethanol Scam? If you have a good objective source, do whisper in my ear (send me a PM). This is something I am unfamiliar with. As I mentioned though, as with the real Manhattan Project (also note that the Manhattan Project was not strictly an American endeavour, but a collaboration between the USA, Canada and the UK!), or the Apollo Program, innovation or inspiration will not strictly come from the government, it will be a comprehensive program or agenda established by the government but will only succede through dynamic interplay between the public and private sectors. John McCain is on the right track when he offers 300 million to the individual or company who devises the next generation of car batteries, but I couldn't think of a more crazy idea myself. #1, where in the hell is this 300 million dollars going to come from?!!?!??!?!!??!!?!! ! I mean, I know the government grants out all kinds of money for doing research, but that is not how it is done, and certainly not 300 million dollars.
And yes, as Tosk points out, I do live in the Delta. I'll add the 80 percent figure is hearsay, from a coworker who's been down here about 5 years, but I also wonder, this being the Mississippi Delta, if that 80 percent government assistance figure includes the farmers whom are subsidized!!!

NC, as far as what I'd change, I don't know, I'd have to think about that, but my #1 pet peeve, far above and beyond anything else would have to be overly negative people. They have a tendency to drag you down, and I try and avoid 'em as much as possible.
