Here we are, nearly August 2008, fully midway between Civ 4 and Civ 5, assuming there ever will be such a thing as Civ 5 . . .

And yet, 1BC not only continues, but thrives. New members continue to join, and old members continue to post, and formerly active members continue to return.

We are indeed a family.

Why?

A thread whose intended purpose is multi-faceted: Say hello to old acquantainces and welcome them back into the fold; reminisce and dream; welcome newcomers; elaborate on what 1BC means to you.

1BC means family to me. You guys are my extended net family and I would be very upset if Sean pulled the plug one day. I feel that each one of you are friends. That doesn't mean however that none of you have ever ticked me off but that's how family works isn't it?

Hail to 1BC! How do I love thee? Let me count the ways....

I stumbled across 1BC not too long after I had CIVIII and found myself posting. I have heard others mention this as well, but there are sooo many members on Civfanatics that I would prefer to read/post, etc here (was hooked here long ago before I stumbled across there). I like the board layout better here and I like the smaller cast of usually intelligent people.

At times, Politics and Religion has kept me tuned in with great interest and impatience to post again and I couldn't wait to keep checking for replies. Other times it was so aggravating that I wanted to stay away from 1BC for days. Usually I'm somewhere in the middle.

Its fun to share Civ advice with others. Its fun to chat, debate, etc, etc. But mostly its the people that make all of that enjoyable. I enjoy chatting about religion with Rabi in Israel, religion with a Norwegian, and picking my fights with conservatives and liberals alike in P&R.

Hail 1BC!
