The year is 300AD. We are considered by all the civilizations of the world to be the dregs of society. We are running a deficit of 8 gold per turn. We are 25 turns away from Philosophy. Our cities are in need of new infrastructure. Our military is becoming outdated. The mighty French, our northern neighbour, are wealthy, strong, and progressive. We need our citizens to be more happy and health. Our cities must grow! We need culture and science and production. We need to be streamlined!Goals for this session: 1- Discover Philosophy, and Taoism! 2- Build Forges in all our cities 3- Get a lucky break The turns: 1. 310AD: Nothing really happening. 2. 320 3. 330 4. 340 5. 350: On an earlier move I sent an agent to Paris to see if he could work his way up in the French system. He has since been discovered and executed by French officials. I deny we had any involvement in the incident. 6. 360 7. 370: Taoism has been founded in Turfan! We are once again thwarted by our adversaries. Religion will not be in our cards this games (at least until we take over France!) I send our nation into Anarchy! For the next 20 years we will be in chaos as we change from a barbarian culture to a Cast System. 8. 380 9. 390 10. 400 11. 410: Our spy in Rhimes has been captured by the Enemy! He had a long career their, but could never get deep enough to steal what we need the most, their technology. 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. 19. 20. Alright. I did not complete any of my goals! But I did place you in a nice possition to get our forges up and running so we can start building infastructure faster. Not much else to say except that there is a lot of game left, and once we get a coherent stratagy to take out the French, we should be able to hold on to that power till the end.

21st Utopian Era
11th Coerulean Era
Goals:
1) Continue building forges to boost production.
2) Seek out new sources of happiness and health boosters.
3) Devise a war plan for the french. This includes the technologies of Construction, Feudalism and Guilds.
4) Pray for a miracle.
500 AD.
104 gp in coffers, 60 percent science spending, +2 gpt, Philosophy in 9 turns. 1100 turns remaining in the game! :W00t:
Isn't it ironic that all the nations we have technology to offer are not willing to share their toys, whereas all the nations that we DO NOT have technology to offer are more than willing to share their secrets with us, but only if we had something to offer them. OF COURSE!!
Turn 1) 505 AD- Livy completes his chronicle of the largest nations in the world. We don't even rank in the top 8.
Turn 2) 510 AD- ZZZZZZZZZZZ
Turn 3) 515 AD- Zzzzzzzzzzzz
Turn 4) 520 AD- We have captured and executed another French Spy, this time, near Angle.
Turn 5) 525 AD- Viking whordes have declared war on us, and with their mighty maratime skills have managed to capture the city of Angle directly from their ships.
France has decided to take advantage of the situation and has declared war upon us as well.
Me thinks the end is near.
Turn 6) 530 AD- Not much happens, except French troops moving around.
Turn 7) 535 AD- Utopia builds Courthouse, starts Swordsman.
Turn 8) 540 AD- Nirvana builds Forge, starts training Axeman.
Turn 9) 545 AD- French Chariot attempts assault on Northern Mining Garrison near Heinlein City. The attack is easily thwarted.
Turn 10) 550 AD- We have developed our very own Philosophy, and much to our benefit, much of the world has not. We seek to teach the ways of the wise. We trade Philosophy to Holy Rome, along with 80 gp, in exchange for Feudalism. We then turn around and sell our knowledge to USA in exchange for COnstruction, Calendar and 225 gp, for a net benefit of 3 technologies, 2 of which are extremely valuable to us now, as well as 145 gold coins.
On the battle front, our new swordsmen in Utopia destroys a French archer near the city, but is badly wounded. With a French Chariot nearby, it does not look good.
Up near Heinlein City, we loose an archer in our Mine Garrison. The French Chariot is badly wounded and one of our city-based Chariots has destroyed it, retreating back to the city.
Turn 11) 555 AD- We send a warrior out to gaurd our Swordsman near Utopia from the nearby chariot. Sadly the warrior is handily defeated, but the swordsman lives to fight another day, and marches back to Utopia to recuperate.
Turn 12) 560 AD- Legion of Doom approaches the Mine Garrison and Heinlein City, a Maceman, several Chariots, Catapults and Longbow. We upgrade a longbow in the city and dig in.
Euphoria builds Forge, begins training Swordsman
Turn 13) 565 AD- Nirvana trains Axeman, begins Catapult.
Sadly, the Mine Garrison has been overrun N. of Heinlein City and we have thus lost our production capabilities. Needless to say, the outlook is bleak.
Turn 14) 570 AD- We wait, as the Catapults pummel Heinlein City.
Turn 15) 575 AD- Ditto.
Turn 16) 580 AD- Miraculously the French Garrison retreats off the Iron Orefields and ceases its assault on Heinlein City ?!?!?!?
Also, USA gifts to us Monotheism, not much help but we'll take it.
Turn 17) 585 AD- French death troupe returns to the Iron Ore and are set to strike...
Turn 18) 590 AD- Utopia builds Catapults, starts on some more.
French Catapults reduce defences to Zero and are soon to march on the city. It won't be pretty. We have positioned two Swordsmen and one Axemen south of the city in preparation for the counter strike, so as they will not be damaged in the bombardment if the city does fall.
Turn 19) 595 AD- We have lost Heinlein City. Only two of their Catapults are destroyed. The counteroffensive is not much better as we loose one Axemen and our swordsmen are only marginally effective in defeating a longbow and chariot.
Turn 20) 600 AD- One swordsman is defeated south of H. City. The other retreats. And that is my session.
Goals:
1) Continue building forges to boost production.
2) Seek out new sources of happiness and health boosters.
3) Devise a war plan for the french. This includes the technologies of Construction, Feudalism and Guilds.
4) Pray for a miracle.
====================================
1) We gots our forges.
2) not so much.
3) well, we we able to get Construction and Feudalism in swinging Philosophy to other nations.
4) Ha. The only miracle is that the French retreated before attacking Heinlein City, but then again, we're talking about the French. Such tactics are to be expected.
====================================
The only thing that matters at this point is that we are at war with the French and Vikings and the French have taken Heinlein City and the Vikings, Angle. It is seeming to be a hopeless situation at this point. The French won't even take peace unless we give them Euphoria and the Vikings will not speak to us.
We may be better off starting a new game. What say ye?
