On a galleon you can load 3 units.

Unfortunately, once you hit an ocean square, you have a 50/50 chance of losing it.

Once you reach Navigation or Magnetism, there won't be any issues.

Something that could help you is building the Great Lighthouse as it allows your sea units one extra movement and it'll help you chance your way across the ocean. Once you have the Great Lighthouse, you can step out two and back looking for a close shoreline.

Am I seeing ghosts? Is that you, Grish?!

To provide some info on the topic at hand... Galleys are the primitive ships that can hold two units, and need to stay within the coast squares (unless you control the Great Lighthouse). Galleons are available with Magnetism, carry four units, and are unrestricted by water type. The immediate upgrade of the galley is the caravel, available with astronomy (these then upgrade to galleons). These ships have to stay on coast or sea squares, or they have a chance of sinking.

I don't quite know why you can't move your men across the sea. Are you having trouble loading them onto the ships? Just move them from the land square onto the ship (which you should have placed by the shore). Or were you wondering why they kept sinking?

Yeah I was having trouble loading the men onto the ships haha. I kind of laughed when I realised how simple it was.

Thanks to both of you for the help.

Yep.. it's me... I'm not a ghost..

Say hi on my topic under PC Tech issues.

I'd call this fellow helped.

Woz.. I'm still playing CivIII, so if you need help, just ask. I'm one of those people that are far behind and haven't bought IV yet
