Gold is just Vanilla, right? Or is it Vanilla + PTW?
Either way, assuming you were completely patched, your save should work in the proper game. Complete comes with Vanilla, PTW, and Conquests. Simply open your save in whichever expansion you were playing in.
Conquests is, btw, much much better than either of its predecessors. My advice would be to just ditch that old save and start a new one :p

Makes sense that "Complete" would be "Civ3+PTW+Conquests" since that is the complete set of civ3 products. Psweet is right. Conquests is by far and away better than either PTW or Civ3 Vanilla. We all spent many, MANY hours on Conquests here on this site, and we could probably go back and enjoy a good 3 or 5 games honing it back to Emperor Difficulty play. Seem to recall about a year or so ago, I popped in my Conquest CD and started a game on Monarch, and it royally kicked my butt! This despite the fact that, once upon a time, I could beat virtually any Monarch game I was met with, and pretty often been Emperor! I hate to admit it with Civ4, cause of how much they've pissed me off with their patches and expansions, but it is the same with the new one too. After 6 months of no playing I've dropped down from Prince Difficulty to finding Noble challenging Replayability is not the right word for these games. It really involves an entire kind of mindset.

tones (9/1/2009) I was minded to compare this site to a sort-of-private Facebook, but, on reflection, that's not right . . . Nope. Here is a forum to exchange views and discuss topics and maybe have some literary fun; post some interesting pics (not Megabits of family krap); flag up some internet sites of Interest; pass on the occasional joke. To me, (struggling for analogy here) it's bit more like a quiet and cosy pub with locals you know and the occasional visitor from "outside"; thick stone walls and a cellar full of well-kept ale. Facebook, on the other hand, is some awful massive city-centre club that serves Fosters lager. And, you know what? I am not unhappy with that analogy. I prefer the pub.

Yeah, the new resources are just bonuses, not required for anything. The exception would be ivory, a luxery, which is required to build the Statue of Zeus. This wonder is a monster, let me tell you, one of the only wonders in Ancient age I think worth building. And the Hittites' unit is the three-man chariot. It sucks, simply put.

I didn't remember tobacco as a resource in vanilla Civ3 Conquests. I thought that that was only added in like the Rise and Rule mod or something? Maybe what they did with Civ3 Complete was include some of the stuff from the fan mods that developed after Conquest had been out for a couple years. Anyway, Grish, there are some REALLY good mods out for Conquests, which I suspect you'd be able to run. Most of them are on file over at Civfanatics. You've basically got a couple years of gameplay ahead of you with that game.
