Alright. Here we go.

8th Utopian Era
4th Coerulean Era

Goals:

1) Establish our fourth city.
2) Capture the Barbarian Nubian City.
3) Train a bigger workforce to handle our growing empire.
4) Work on sending out Confucian missionaries.

1400 BC.

44 gp in coffers, 80 percent science spending, 0 gpt, Monarchy in 22 turns.

We have met Britain, Babylon, Carthage, Khmer, Korea, Native Americans, Portugal, USA

We have signed an open borders agreement with the Native Americans. Might as well. We have one with every one else.

Turn 1) 1390 BC- The Dutch City of Nirvana has been founded. Her workers immediately begin constructing a Granary to store food.

Turn 2) 1380 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 3) 1370 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 4) 1360 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 5) 1350 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 6) 1340 BC- Utopia builds Barracks, begins training the Axeman.

Turn 7) 1330 BC- Utopia trains Axeman, begins another.

Turn 8) 1320 BC- Barbarian Archer attacks Utopia. Our resident Axeman soundly defeats it. Science lowered to 70 percent to stop the bleeding.

Turn 9) 1310 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 10) 1300 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 11) 1290 BC- Zzzzzzzzzz

Turn 12) 1280 BC- Utopia trains Axeman, begins another.

Turn 13) 1270 BC- Our newest Axeman destroys a Barbarian Warrior just north of Utopia.

Turn 14) 1260 BC- Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Turn 15) 1250 BC- Our newest Axeman is attack by Barbarian Archer West of Utopia. We promote them to City Raider level two, then order them to destroy a lingering Barbarian Warrior. They easily complete the task, then move on towards Nubian.

Turn 16) 1240 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 17) 1230 BC- Utopia trains Axeman and begins building Library.

Turn 18) 1220 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 19) 1210 BC- Euphoria builds Walls, begins Archer.

Turn 20) 1200 BC- Korea asks that we cancel deals with Carthage. Since Carthage does not like us too well (Cautious with 2 negative points) we oblige. We only loose an open borders in the process..

Turn 21) 1190 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 22) 1180 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 23) 1170 BC- We have discovered the Monarchy technology. We now pursue Currency to boost our economy. It will take 37 turns. We currently have no available technology trade possibilities at the moment.

Utopia builds Library, begins worker.
Port Amsterdam builds Barracks, begins Archer for Nirvana.

Turn 24) 1160 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 25) 1150 BC- Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Turn 26) 1140 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 27) 1130 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 28) 1120 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 29) 1110 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 30) 1100 BC- Fcuk!!!!! A massive Horse Archer barbarian whorde has appeared west of Euphoria. Our cities should be able to withhold them, but they have potential to do great damage.

Goals:

1) Establish our fourth city.
2) Capture the Barbarian Nubian City.
3) Train a bigger workforce to handle our growing empire.
4) Work on sending out Confucian missionaries.

====================================

1) Check. You made that one easy for me.
2) Not Quite. The city has five archers, and our level one City Raider Axemen only have a slightly better then even odds of knocking one off. We will need some more Axemen.
3) One new worker has been trained. We need more!!!!
4) We are not quite there yet.
====================================

A rather uneventful Dynasty session, a new technology, a new city, a new library, not much else.

One thing to consider is our civics. I held off on changes because of two turns of rebellion. We have available the Hereditary Rule and the Organized Religions. Both have great value, but not immediate needs.

A random event increased our relations with America. Even though they be our neighbours, we may wish to cultivate an alliance with them. We don't necessarily have to expand south, with plenty of opportunities to the north and west, we could leave the south alone and gain a valuable friend. Though, as you say, America may be the easiest target...

Those horse archers look wicked.

Have fun with that!

The Year is 1100BC.  We have 29 gold in the cofferes.  We are running a +1 gpt surplus at a 70% science rate.  We are 29 turns from discovering currency.  There is a hoard of 6 Barbarian archers on our fronteers.  These pests will not be easy to take care of, but we should be able to hold on to our cities.

Goals for this session:

1. Build a new city
2. Build our first missionary
3. Take the Barbarian city of Nubian
4. Imporove our military

The Turns

1. 1090: WOng Kon of the Koreans suggests to us that we adopt the cast system.  Though we are still primitive with our tribal system, I do not see how a cast system will benifit us at this point in the game.  Not to mention two turns of unnessary anarchy in the midtst of a barbarian uprising.

2. 1080:

3. 1070: ***The Barbarians attack Utopia***

In the battle our Axemen defending the city easily defeated 3 Horse Archers before retiring to the barracks.  Next our brave Chariot, from Euphoria, defeated a Horse Archer, then retired to the Barracks.  Our Warriors were up next, and the first Horse Archer attack was repelled with the lose of another horse archer.  Afterwards, the Barbarians sent in their final attack and came out victorious, defeating our other warrior unit in the city.

Thus the battle will insue, however the Citizens of Utopia are thrilled with their brave soldiers which will live to fight another day.

4. 1060: With only one injured horse archer remaining, and the soldiers fixing their wounds in the barracks, we retire this turn to see what the lone barbarian will do.

As it turns out, the lone Horse Archer decided to die with honour, and upon its futile attempt of attacking Utopia, he is easily destroyed by our brave Axemen in the city.

Upon defeating the horse archer, our axemen is promoted to +25% vs. Archers.

5. 1050

6. 1040

7. 1030

8. 1020: We have met Asaka of India.  We make peace with them.  THey also have the knowledge of Meditation, which we will need to build our monestaries.  However, they are unwilling to trade this tech with us at this point.

It also appears that someone has attacked Nubian and killed two archers and injured one archer to (0.8/3).  With only three archers remaining and one that is not to healthy, I think that it is time we brought in the Axemen!

***The Battle of Nubian***

OUr first Axeman, which is a 'City Raider II' attacks.  We are told the chance of success is 76%.  After a few early chots by the barbarians, our aexmen retreat back to the lines victoriously!!!  OUr next Axemen, which is a 'City Raider I' attacks.  With 61% odds of winning, they go in with high spirits, but the rain of arrows proves too much for these brave soldiers, and they are killed in the line of duty.  Next, we attack with another City Raider and this time, with 96% odds, they easily win.  Our remaining Axeman then comes in with 99% odds and liberates the city.

NUBIAN IS OURS!!!

It also turns out that it was Carthage whome attacked the city earlier.  They currently have 2 axemen south of Nubian (they were originally not visible to us).

9. 1010

10. 1000

11. 990: ***WAR ALERT***

Both Khmer and Carthage declair war on us.  In the process they kill one of our Axemen near Nubian.

I check with the entire world community, and yet no one is willing to help us in the attrocity.

12. 980: With our Axemen digging into the Nubian soil, they repel an invasion of Carthage Aexmen.  We are hurt in the battle but are able to upgrade our Aexmen in the city to one star.  OUr second and only other unit in Nubian is at full strenght.

Reinforcing the city soon will be one axemen, one spearman and one chariot.

13. 970

14. 960: The Portugese demand that we give them Masonry!  Since we are close to being on their good side, and they are on the other side of the Babyolians, and they are also within striking distacnce to Carthage, I deem it a good idea to create somehat of an alliance with them.  So I agree with their demand.

15. 950

16. 940

17. 930

18. 920

19. 910

20. 900: WIth 2/3's of my turn done, and not much happening, I'll discuss some minor details.  OUr military might is increased to a respectable size and it is still growing.  We are running a deficit, but with more city and land infastructure we can keep that under control.  Also, both Carthage and Khmer have one spearman outside Nubian.  Our best attack is only a 33% chance of success, so I'm letting these bandits stay, for now.  We have 3 Axemen, 1 Spearman, and 1 Chariot protecting the city, and nither of those civs have Mathematics (thus not caterpults), so we should be safe.

21. 890

22. 880: Babylon asks (politly) for the COde Of Laws!!!  Seeing as we cannot afford a war with them at this point, and that it would appear as though we will be enemies with both Carthage and Khmer for a long time, I think it advisable to keep both the Americans and Babylonians as good friends for a while.  This will allow us to hold our north and south boarders and expand west.

Next I ask Hamarabi to declare war on Survivorman (Khmer) and they politly say YES!!! .  THey will not declare war on Carthage, but every bit helps, and it looks like Babylone will be a friend for some time now.

23. 870: Babylon attacks Nubian with two Axemen and a chariot.  The first axeman defeats one of our axemen.  THe next axeman is destroyed by one of our axeman.  And their Chariot is destroyed by our Spearman.

All in all it was a successful defence.

24. 860

25. 850

26. 840: Carthage moves in 4 axemen (one a level 4 city raider!!!) two Chariots and a speamen next to Nubian.  With our strong defence it is tempting to see how the fight turns, but with so much at stake I ask Hanibal for peace.  At first he laughs at me, but once I intice him with the knowledge of Masonry, he quickly aquieces and now we only have one menace to deal with.

27. 830: We dicover Currency!!! (i moved our science up to 80% to get it a turn early and thus lost 8 gold in the process).

Research has begun on meditation so that we may build monestaries and spread our religion.

28.

29.

30. 800: We met the Spanish.

And the turns are done.  One sad note, we are 3 turns from finishing a settler in Euphoria and on my last turn the Babylonians took our city spot NE of Euphoria near the gems.  There are still a few great locations, but that was one of the best.  In my opinion, I think we should really get a ton of Culture from Euphoria and Nirvana and hope that that city will flip to our side.  We should start that now and hopefully we can also keep the gems in our boarders for most of the time before the flip.

As for my goals:

1. Build a new city
2. Build our first missionary
3. Take the Barbarian city of Nubian
4. Imporove our military

-----------------
1. I came close
2. Close again (we are 3 turns from discovering meditation)
3. Finished this one early on
4. We now have a respectable military (though we could still use a few upgrades)

Take her away.

10th Utopian Era
5th Coerulean Era

Goals:

1) Establish our sixth city.
2) Shore up our sagging economy.
3) Our infrastructure lags, we need more workers.
4) Work on sending out Confucian missionaries.
5) Establish a stronger national defence.

800 BC.

54 gp in coffers, 70 percent science spending, -3 gpt, Meditation in 3 turns.

We have met Britain, Babylon, Carthage,, India, Khmer, Korea, Native Americans, Portugal, USA

We trade to America Corn in exchange for Cattle to keep our cities healthy and growing.

Turn 1) 790 BC- We sign Open Borders agreement with India.
Utopia trains Axeman, starts Chariot.

Turn 2) 780 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 3) 770 BC- Meditation has been discovered. We set our sights next on Mathematics, that we may one day build Catapults and establish a national Calendar.

Port Amsterdam trains Settlers, starts workers.

Turn 4) 760 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 5) 750 BC- Utopia trains Chariots, starts Workers.

Turn 6) 740 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 7) 730 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 8) 720 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 9) 710 BC- Pink Floyd has been settled...It is North of Nubian to establish our boundries to the NorthWest. Our economy takes a hit.

Turn 10) 700 BC- Science spending lowered to 60 percent to stop the bleeding.

Turn 11) 690 BC- Babylon approaches us and want Meditation in exchange for 250 gp. That is an offer we cannot refuse.

Turn 12) 680 BC- Utopia and Port Amsterdam train workers, and both begin building Confucian Monasteries.

A Utopian revolt has taken place in Seattle. Tis a city that soon shall be ours.

Also we have captured an enemy agent near Nubian, our spooks are in the process of determining their state of origins.

We have sold our precious gold ore to Babylon for 2gpt and have sold knowledge of Meditation to the America for 220 gp.

Turn 13) 670 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 14) 660 BC- Euphoria builds Monument. Starts Granary.

Turn 15) 650 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 16) 640 BC- Pink Floyd is assaulted by Barbarian Archers. Our veteran Axeman easily wipe them down.

Turn 17) 630 BC-

Turn 18) 620 BC-
We have discovered the secrets of Mathematics and now set our sights on Construction.

Also, The Spanish Queen *** has demanded we give her 420 gp. I do not know who she thinks she is dealing with hear. We have sent her emissary away empty handed.

Turn 19) 610 BC-

Turn 20) 600 BC- Confucianism has spread to the Babylonian towne of Nippur. Nice work.

Turn 21) 590 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 22) 580 BC-

Turn 23) 570 BC- We have sold the Meditation to Native Americans and Carthage and England for a grand sum of 440 gp. Cleaning up with this tech!

Then Korea approaches us and kindly asks for Monarchy (as a gift). Given that Korea has 2 techs we do not, and also considering that they founded Christianity and adopted it as state religion (thus spoiling our good relations somewhat, we politely decline.

Turn 24) 560 BC- Utopia builds Monastery, begins Chariot.
A Barbarian city has been scouted north of Utopia. It would be well within our interests to get this one before Babylon does, so I send out some scouting regiments.

Turn 25) 550 BC- Our Axeman from Utopia, sent north, has encountered a Barbarian Archer in the Jungle. We are taking defensive approach.

Meanwhile, in the South, in Euphoria, a Confucian miracle has occurred. For the small sum of 30 gp, we have been able to consolidate our religious communities, and Confucianism has thus spread to Seattle, and our townes of Nubian and Pink Floyd. That will save us some efforts.

Turn 26) 540 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 27) 530 BC- Utopia trains Chariot, starts Missionary.

We have sold excess pigs for 3 gpt. to the America.

Turn 28) 520 BC- ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Turn 29) 510 BC- Zzzzzzzz

[b]Turn 30) 500 BC-[b] We have caught another enemy agent of unknown origins, this time near Port Amsterdam.

We have also forced the Barbarian Archer into the lair of Pink Floyd. She shouldn't be any problem for our boys.

Goals:

1) Establish our sixth city.
2) Shore up our sagging economy.
3) Our infrastructure lags, we need more workers.
4) Work on sending out Confucian missionaries.
5) Establish a stronger national defence.

====================================

1) Welcome to.... the Machine.
2) We are handling it just fine. A large buffer of gold deposits in our Treasury certainly helps.
3) Check, check, check. Though we could use a few more.
4) Our first missionaries are being trained, but with great success, our religion has diffused to Seattle and Nippon.
5) We added one city and 3 new regiments. We could certainly always use more soldiers.
====================================

Let me just say this, Ness, there is a lot of gold on the market to be had now. We are rich, we could become a whole lot richer, if we are willing to part with a tech, even some of the older ones are still in demand. A lot, most of the Empires do not have Currency, and we could really want to clean up with that one. Though Korea has some techs we do not have, their 410 gold pieces are rather inticing if you so choose to depart with our tech.

Given our new found wealth, and the fact that we will have Great Prophet during your session, along with the holy shrine that comes with it, I would say establishing a couple of new cities in the near future is probably affordable.

With Pink Floyd, it looks like we have established the extent of our borders, but within our dominion there is still plenty of room, at least for 3 cities on good locations, maybe 4. I will leave all that up to you though.

Cheers.

The year is 800 BC.  It has been a long (lonnnngggg) winter.  We have 54 gold in the coffers, and are losing 3 gold per turn.  We are 3 turns away from discovering Meditation.  We are at war with Khmer, but with our production potential, there is no real threat (so long as we keep our guard.

No one will trade us techs.

Alright.  Our enemies are Carthage and Khmer.  Our allies are the Americans and Babylonians.  The northern countries, including Portugal and the Koreans are potential allies, and thus we are trying to keep good relations with them.  That means good trades, but no bending over backwards.  Our biggest ally will be the Babylonians for some time.  They are our neighbour and a major threat to our security.

Goals for this session:

1 - Build one more city

2 - Expand our workforce

3 - Continue our military expansion

4 - Continue work towards spreading our religion

The Turns:

1. 790: zzz

2. 780: Meditation next turn.  Science dropped to 40% netting us 25 gold!!!

3. 770

4. 760

5. 750: Port Quinten has been founded in our Southern Lands.

6. 740

7. 730: Hannibal has declared war on our American Friends.  I see doom in the future for our allies to the south.

8. 720

9. 710

10. 700

11. 690

12. 680

13. 670

14. 660

15. 650

16. 640: The Damn Spanish demand we give them the Code of Laws.  I laugh in their face and send them away.

17. 630

18. 620

19. 610: A Utopian Revolt has taken place in Seattle!!  WOOHOO!

I celebrate our new found glory by selling the poor Americans our secrets of meditation in exchange for 210 gold pieces.  This will help our deficit which has eaten away our treasure to 4 gold pieces.

20. 600

21. 590

22. 580

23. 570:  We will discover Aesthetics next turn.  Science has been lowered to 30% netting us 30 Gold pieces.

24. 560

25. 550: Lincoln offers to liberate the city of Seattle to us!!!  I have never, in all my time of playing this game, seen this happen.  I mean, I've seen it plenty of times later in the game when a city was once part of another civilization and then later is returned to that civ.  But Seattle is a pure American city and they are liberating it to us.  And this early in the game.

I don't know what to say!  I guess we will take it, though it will eat into our treasury a fair bit.

26. 540:

27. 530

28. 520

29. 510

30. 500:  The end.

The Goals:

1 - Build one more city

Check!! I actually got two by default.

2 - Expand our workforce

Check!!  I built two new worker units.

3 - Continue our military expansion

Check!  I built one Axeman.  We seem to be OK in the military sceen.  We could probably use a little more, but we are holding our own.

4 - Continue work towards spreading our religion

I've started two Monestaries.  You should be able to get the producing during your sessions.

After a long, long hiatus, Ness and I pick this back up!

12th Utopian Era
6th Coerulean Era

Goals:

1) Shore up our sagging economy.
2) Explore trade with our neighbours
3) Employ another workforce or two.
4) Work on sending out Confucian missionaries.
5) Establish a stronger national defence.
6) Boost our production capabilities.

The goals haven't really changed. We've got our work cut out for us. I think we rate too low on the Power scale, which might leave us vulnerable to attack, so military is a strong priority. That, and every thing else...

500 BC.

We have sold Meditation to England for 160 gp, Monotheism to Portugal and America, for 160 and 110 gp. Our bankroll is not doing so bad now considering our deficit.

We have traded Pigs to Babylon for Cows. We don't really need the health benefit, but anything we can do to encourage peace with our powerful allies to the north is a must.

646 gp in coffers, 60 percent science spending, -5 gpt, Metal Casting in 25 turns.

We have met Britain, Babylon, Carthage, India, Khmer, Korea, Native Americans, Portugal, Spain, USA

Turn 1) 490 BC- Historian, Livy, rates us as most cultured civilization! Hoo-RAH!

Turn 2) 480 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 3) 470 BC- Queen *** Isabella of Spain kindly requests a gift of Currency. Given her past history of demands, we politely decline. We surely are not going to assist our highest scoring rival so easily.

Nubian builds Granary, starts Library.

Turn 4) 460 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 5) 450 BC- Nirvana builds Granary, starts Walls. We need all the defensive deterrent we can get in that city.
As Nubian grows, production shifted to Worker.

And with much thanks to the efforts of our workers up north, we now have access to Gems! Celebration!

Turn 6) 440 BC- Out of no where, Sitting Bull demands 560 of our treasury. *** him!

Turn 7) 430 BC- Many thanks to the efforts of our workers near Nubian, we have secured access to Iron. May our military might grow 10fold!

Turn 8) 420 BC- We build Confucian Monastery in Port Amsterdam. We need military, training of Axeman commences.

Turn 9) 410 BC- Oh Glorious Day!!!! Utopia has built the Temple of Artemis. Nice Work, Raven Ness. Emphasis of production shifted to military, training a Spearman.

Turn 10) 400 BC- Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Turn 11) 390 BC- ZZZZZZZZZ

Turn 12) 380 BC- Portugal demands we give them our Golden Ore. No way, no how, no sir.

Turn 13) 370 BC- Utopia trains Spearman, starts on Worker.

Korea approaches us with an offer of 165 gp for Currency. We could rake in a lot of gold with our technologies, but for now, we prefer to hold a technological advantage.

Turn 14) 360 BC-Confucian Monastery built in Euphoria. City begins training Missionary.

In related news, the Great Propher, Sojurner Truth has been born in Utopia. We send her immediately to the Holy City of Port Amsterdam!

Turn 15) 350 BC- Our secret agents have evicted a spy near Nubian....and stay out!!!!

Nubian trains worker, resumes work on Library.

Turn 16) 340 BC- An enemy infiltrator has destroyed a mine! What!? What!? Where?! Where? The Iron Mines of Nubian! Those ***s! They shall be punished for their deeds, if we ever find out who they are!

Sojurner Truth has overseen construction of the Kong Miao, most holy shrine of Master Confucius in Port Amsterdam. The windfall is felt immediately, from -4 gpt to +10, we boost science spending to 70 percent and still manage a balanced budget! Go US!

Turn 17) 330 BC- Lincoln approaches, offers Mathematics and 70 gp in exchange for Aesthetics. We counter offer same deal from him for Monarchy, and he accepts. Good deal for us.

Turn 18) 320 BC- Port Amsterdam builds Axeman, starts Confucian Missionary.

Turn 19) 310 BC- Utopia trains Worker, begins Axeman.

Turn 20) 300 BC- Carthage declares war on America. Funny, I didn't realize they had STOPPED fighting. Just as well, an unanticipated consequence is that Babylon has declared war on Carthage. Don't know if much will come of it given the distances, but it is indeed good to see our rivals squander production on war while we build up our infrastructure and defensive forces.

Turn 21) 290 BC- Metal Casting has been discovered. We now set our sights on Construction, that we may build Catapults.

Turn 22) 280 BC- Utopia trains Axeman, begins settler. It's hightime we expand again.

We decline American request to join them in war against Carthage. Sorry pal.

Turn 23) 270 BC- We sell Code of Laws to America for 160 gp.

Turn 24) 260 BC- ZZzzzzzzzzzz

Turn 25) 250 BC- Zzzzzzzzzzzz

Turn 26) 240 BC- Zzzzzzzz

Turn 27) 230 BC- Euphoria trains Missionary, starts Forge.
Nirvana builds Walls, starts Library.

Turn 28) 220 BC- Port Amsterdam trains Missionary, starts Archer.
Our 1st Missionary spread Confucianism to Seattle. All hail Master Confucious.

Turn 29) 210 BC- Zzzzzzzz

[b]Turn 30) 200 BC-[b] Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Goals:

1) Shore up our sagging economy.
2) Explore trade with our neighbours
3) Employ another workforce or two.
4) Work on sending out confucian missionaries.
5) Establish a stronger national defence.
6) Boost our production capabilities.

====================================
1) Check. We are in much better shape.
2)
3) Check, Check.
4) One deployed, and one more sent out.
5) Half-Check. We could still use more defence.
6) Well, we added some mines, and our cities our growing, and we can now build forges.

====================================

It is a great time to be a Utopian. So long as we avoid getting attacked, we are in great shape. Lets continue to work on that defence, as well as boosting production. I think Nirvana is going to be a great powerhouse in the future, if we can keep it. We have some options for building some cities in the north, and I think it would be great if you could get one or two more during your session. Not much else to say now. Give 'em hell.

Cheers.
