So once you've got the update, HERE!, you will be able to play the game on the same conditions as the rest of us.
The first Rhye's challenge is to turn a small tribe on the River Nile into a Cultural Powerhouse of the Mediterranean. They call themselves Egyptians, and their leader is Ramesses, and your quest is as follows:

* Have more than 500 Culture in 700 BC (turn 86)
* Build the Pyramids, the Great Library, and the Great Lighthouse by 250 AD (turn 133)
* Have more than 5000 Culture in 450 AD (turn 143)
The starting conditions are as follows:

And so it begins...

with humble beginnings...

Can you rise to the challenge????
The Rules are Simple. Complete each of the 3 UHV quests and post a screenshot indicating you have done this.
As this is a time locked quest, i.e., you will meet, or not, the 3rd goal by a specific turn (turn 143), the grand champion will be determined by a combination of having achieved all three quests, with the highest score, if there should be a tie.
If no one is able to achieve all three quests, then the individual with the highest score, and achieving two quests will be declared winner, and so on and so forth.
Unlike your standard GOTM, multiple attempts are allowed, as the object is not to play through 6000 years of history and end up with the highest score, but to complete the most quests and end up with the highest score. If you miss the first quest, for example, have a go at it again, if you fancy.
Please post a screenshot of your victory and email the final sav to:
gotm@1bcciv.com
Are there any questions?
I've attached a zip of the sav, if this does not work, I've emailed it to NC and he can post it.

So I fired up the Chinese and played a bit. Missed one of my three "historical victory" conditions by a few turns. What happens in those instances? Do you just keep playing and try for a Space Race, Diplo, etc.? If you get the historical win, does the game know you just won and give you a victory animation or are the historicals effectively just house rules?

tones (9/1/2009) I was minded to compare this site to a sort-of-private Facebook, but, on reflection, that's not right . . . Nope. Here is a forum to exchange views and discuss topics and maybe have some literary fun; post some interesting pics (not Megabits of family krap); flag up some internet sites of Interest; pass on the occasional joke. To me, (struggling for analogy here) it's bit more like a quiet and cosy pub with locals you know and the occasional visitor from "outside"; thick stone walls and a cellar full of well-kept ale. Facebook, on the other hand, is some awful massive city-centre club that serves Fosters lager. And, you know what? I am not unhappy with that analogy. I prefer the pub.

Scipio Africanus (11/15/2008) So I fired up the Chinese and played a bit. Missed one of my three "historical victory" conditions by a few turns. What happens in those instances? Do you just keep playing and try for a Space Race, Diplo, etc.?
No. In this scenario, the only victory that matters is getting the 3 UHV points.
If you get the historical win, does the game know you just won and give you a victory animation or are the historicals effectively just house rules?
From what I've read, if the last UHV is achieved in some specific year (turn) you must play through to that year, and then the game victory will be triggered and you will be ranked from Dan Quayle all the way to the top of the list.
So in your case, if you ended up with all 3 UHV points, and you are at turn 140, just hit enter 3 times, and a victory should be announced. Like I said, I've never got to that point, so I don't know, but that is what I've read.
BTW, to determine if you get a UHV, look to the bottom right corner of the main game screen where it lists all of the Leaders and their scores. next to each Civ, you will see a UHV tracker, which will say 0/3 or 1/3, 2/3 or 3/3. That is how you know if you've met a goal.
Cheers.

Okay, so going back and continuing at turn 140: I'm at turn 144, I've got 2/3 down in the UHV window (definitely missed UHV 1 by about 50 culture points [dang it!]. In terms of the GOTM, what should I do? This was my second attempt, so maybe I should do one more? I will give it another try, but want to post this .sav properly so that if it turns out to be my best attempt it is properly scored. So assuming we do not get 3 of 3 of the UHVs: the final UHV for Egypt is to get >5000 culture by turn 143. Should we post our .savs in the turn immediately before the closing year for the final UHV (142), on the year of the third UHV (143), 0r for the year immediately after (144)? In the event that you do not get all three UHVs, I think you should post the .sav for the turn immediately AFTER the year when the last UHV comes due (i.e., turn 144 for Egypt). This is because, the UHV counter does not update until after the year when any given UHV is due.
