why wont it let me max out my science spending?  even with the cursor at 100%, my civ is netting like +600 gold per turn but it takes like 6-7 turns to research each tech.... why cant i do better?  i have the most money but somehow france always seems to have the upper edge in sciene by one tech (untill i get theory of evolution in 2 turns....)

You could need to build more libraries and science wonders.

i built most of the science improvements in all my cities (almost all have libraries, and at least half have universities)

maybe its becuse my money is coming from trade rather than from taxes?  thats kind of bogus, i should be able to use that money....

Expand and keep on expanding.  Build more cities and libraries to go in those cities.

Plus

You can convert some citizens to specialist scientists.

What is your F11 score for science knowledge?  I keep track of that plus my happiness percentage, land area and pollution rates every turn along with my F8 and F3 info.
