I played a few sessions after work and knocked this one out in a little over 8 hours total.
I lasted until 1370AD. This was BRUTAL. I had 2 things I wanted to do at the start of this game. 1) I wanted to drop a settler on a hill near Shaka and another near Rome. I figured most units would throw themselves at this hill and I wanted that extra 25% defense for being on a hill. 2) I wanted to get Feudalism very quickly and drop Longbowmen on those hills. I thought that longbowmen on a hill with city garrison bonuses and maybe later the hill defense bonuses would be superior up through gunpowder days. #2 worked fine, but I didn't get a settler dropped near Rome (on a hill) quicky enough and endless assaults came into Osaka, which was luckily on a hill, but I wanted a city away from my inner empire. This was a problem several times and kept me from improving Osaka like I wanted. Oh well. I timed the Oracle right so once I completed Monarchy, I could get Feudalism for free. I went unbalanced on the tech tree to get gunpowder and later to get Military Science for Grenadiers. Basically for the same reason of sticking them on those cities with hills. This worked well but on this diety level I struggled to do much of anything but keep from getting wiped out. I did raze 1 city when I saw they were close to a domination victory, but in the end, there was nothing I could do but slow it down. Fun game! Thanks!

Oh yeah, one of the normal things I do in every game is build a scout that is promoted to medic. Medics were absolutely necessary this game, in each city defending against those crazy numbers. I tend to be a bit screenshot crazy, so please pardon the extra images, but I thought I'd post a couple of interesting screenshots (to me at least). I kinda cut and pasted a bunch of times to get this image:
If I added that correctly, thats 688 enemy units destroyed. Ridiculous, huh? 11 Great Generals added to my capital city, along with the Heroic Epic and Moai Statues there. I happened to catch this screenshot of some archer in my stack up north:
If that is listing the best units 1st, I had 3 archers better than this guy. I kinda wish I would have grabbed screenshots of my best guys. I took this below screenshot that captured my best archer in Osaka to the south. This guy was around for a while, so I didn't notice exactly how nice he got. My longbowmen fought off quite a few Cataphracts, grenadiers and riflemen, so the strategy of several longbowmen on hills was a great strategy to draw this game out as long as possible.

Thats a lot of promotions!
Again, sorry for the extra screenshots, but I thought some of you guys might appreciate them.

Ah yes I had a go at this one. Brutal is putting it mildly. I was eventually defeated in 625AD by the cheekiest of domination victories! They passed the land area share required to win with the placement of a new city in the south east where I had not, evidently, expanded quickly enough. Or at least been able to supply the adequate protection that the new expansion would require. I expended all my energies in keeping the border land as impenetrable a fortress as possible, but left the back door open all along!! Ah well, a good win all the same if you (they) can get it.
As I'd originally given it a go because I thought it would be fun (and it was!) to see how long I could really last, and because it felt like a hollow defeat, I thought I fight on anyway. So I burned their new city out of spite and battled on to the 1200's in an attempt to realise my ultimate goal which was to make some kind of headway into their territory. In the end couldn't manage any, so I eventually left it.
That was a mightily impressive effort NC, to keep them at bay (on all fronts) for that long, I was pretty much stretched to capacity defending the two opposing fronts in the west that it turned out I just couldn't compete in the south. Plus I never reached having to fend off grenadiers (you're saying you actually killed 117 of them?!?)
So here are some screenshots.

Defeat in 625AD.

Getting my revenge in!

And here are the units destroyed stats.
Edit: What's happened to the old upload system I had to attach those as files and then link to them ...then resize them myself.
