This is for Beyond the Sword expansion version 3.17.
The map is Tiny and the map is an Inland Lake.
Difficulty Level = Prince
Speed = Normal

All Victory Conditions are Enabled.

Your leader is:

Mehmed II of Carthage.

Your starting location:

Lush Hillsides and Flood Planes

Game Conditions:

Highest Normalized Score with ANY victory condition will be declared BTS GOTM Champion for March

When you complete the game, take a screenshot of the Victory screen where it lists your leadership counterpart in history. You may post the screenshot in the GOTM thread and then Email your final save (hopefully one turn just before victory) to gotm@1bcciv.com. Saves should be named as follows: [username]Feb09BTS.CivBeyondSwordSave

Submissions will be accepted until APRIL 15th

What are the rules?
The rules are fairly simple: Play fairly.

This means that you play within the spirit of the competition. As it is a friendly competition, we like to believe that there is no real incentive to cheat - but unfortunately, people do. Any persons found to be cheating will have their games removed, and there is a strong possibility that they will be banned from participating in the future.

Cheating includes (and is not limited to):

1. Playing the game multiple times and submitting the best effort (or even playing to get knowledge of the map, the replaying then starting the game again).
2. Using any sort of programs to edit the game or save files.
3. Altering the XML or using other mods that give you an unfair advantage.
4. Reloading an earlier save-file and replaying turns in a different way. The only time you may reload a save file is to start a new play session, and you must use the save file from the end of your previous session.

Also, if in doubt, ask. If you think you have found a new loop-hole or exploit, then we strongly suggest that you ask as to its legallity before you use it. The aim of the competition is not to see who can exploit the rules, and as such, we reserve the right to disqualify submissions based on exploits that are discovered later.

Good luck and Enjoy!!

I played through the first 100 turns or so. It looks to be an interesting game. Should be a challenge to see who can not only win but come up with the highest score!

Something to have a go at what I am not working or studying. Looks like something that I might actually finish!

I thought I might have a go, but having been told by Goose that there is some weird ranking thing (i.e. 1 win does not equal 1 promotion) then I simply can't be bothered. Who knows how long it would take to equal NC? Not that it matters a flying fart anyway but I thought it was kinda interesting for a while in a good-natured competitive way. There may have been a chance of giving the good Colonel a run for his money, but if it means winning many many GOTM's in these dying days of Civ then I shall retire.

Congratulations Nuclearcow, I cannot see anybody ever having the will, deterrmination, persistance and time to ever dislodge you from your rank.

I salute you Sir

Tones!?  What the!?

Surely, you're not going to quit on me.  I think if you were around as long as I playing GOTMs, it might be Colonel Tones, which by merely thinking of that name... is like fingernails on the chalk-board in my mind.  hehe.  Just teasing, but you've beaten me like a rug on some of these GOTMs.

If you shall delay in playing, I shall declare a war of taunting to entice you to play.  lol.

Well, I´m gonna play it (as I´ve been playing most of them) just because I like to play games through which we can campare results...

However, I agree that if you guys wanna have a ranking, it should be a fair ranking.

I'm not saying the ranking system is somehow unfair. I just looked it up. It's just plain weird that 2 victories gets you to corporal and then it's one per rank. The only reason NC is beating me is because he's been playing a year longer

No, the thing is I'd need five more straight wins to catch up and that involves a lot of time because I micromanage like fury (can't help myself) My interest in Civ is waning anyway. Could I keep it up for another five months just for bragging purposes? I don't think so. And that's if NC doesn't win another one which is highly unlikely.

Of course, one could consider a ranking sysem based upon total normalised points scored. Therefore even if you don't "win" in any one month you might still advance. Frankly, however, I think it's too late for all that.

It's been that way since I came up with that system, and everyone thought it was a good one. I see no issue with the first couple of victories being a lower rank. That way, to be a sergeant or higher, you really have to know what's going on to beat everyone in 3 games or more, which you no doubt do since you have done that.

Not that it matters, but I just can't see why you didn't start with Lance Corporal and progress in increments from there - it would have been more structurally consistent.

Anyway, no matter. Water under the bridge and all that.
