Have you ever wonder whether the time spent on playing Civilization IV will give you an extra edge in the workplace?

My name is Thomas Bok and I am a huge fan of Civ 4. That is why I am conducting a research study "Personality of Civilization Players" for my Honours thesis at York University (Toronto, Canada). If you have any comments or questions about the research feel free to contact me at:

I noticed when I clicked on "done" after the survey, it went to a blank white screen. I don't know if thats on purpose but I thought I'd mention it.

Yeah, I got something similar, but it also had a popup saying "The webpage you are viewing is trying to close the window." and I had to hit YES to make it close out.

Good luck with your study! seems interesting Try and remember when you get done to pop back in here and let us know the main finding(s).

I was minded to compare this site to a sort-of-private Facebook, but, on reflection, that's not right . . . Nope. Here is a forum to exchange views and discuss topics and maybe have some literary fun; post some interesting pics (not Megabits of family krap); flag up some internet sites of Interest; pass on the occasional joke. To me, (struggling for analogy here) it's bit more like a quiet and cosy pub with locals you know and the occasional visitor from "outside"; thick stone walls and a cellar full of well-kept ale. Facebook, on the other hand, is some awful massive city-centre club that serves Fosters lager.   And, you know what? I am not unhappy with that analogy. I prefer the pub.

-The questions on the second(I think it was) are not mutually exclusive. Some of them don't even seem to gather the data you are expecting them to. I should stop obsessing about poorly worded online questionnaires.

RK, I think most of his questions are from some structured questionnaires. Being forced to choose between two non-mutually exclusive choices or to differentiate to major differences by finding the one "closest" to your feelings when no subtle alternate choices are given is a very common (and IMHO not the best psychometric) approach.

I dunno, it just didn't work for me; I got no feeeling of involvement and the graphics were rubbish. I won't be buying this game.
