This month we are very happy to present you a novelty between the 1BCCiv.com and civ-brasil.com Games of the month.
After CivMasters' request, we, from 1BCCiv decided to accept the proposal of merging The Game of the Month and the Jogo do Mês (JDM) competitions between sites!

CivMasters created this month's game. If you guys agree, we will likely continue this merging of GOTMs to future games. Please let us know if you like this idea of the merging of games and we'll likely continue it if you do. Thank you, CivMasters for creating this game!

The Civil War - July 2009 (Montezuma-Aztecs)
After a crisis, the Aztec civilization has split into six pieces that each want to rule. Will you reunite the Aztecs by the power of weapons or by the wisdom of words? Only time and your mind decide.

Map: Arboria
Size: Small
5 AIs, everyone is Aztec.
Speed: Normal

Highest Normalized Score with any allowed victory condition will be declared BTS GOTM Champion for July

When you complete the game, take a screenshot of the Victory screen where it lists your leadership counterpart in history. You may post the screenshot in the GOTM thread and then email your final save (hopefully one turn just before victory) to gotm@1bcciv.com or jdm@civ-brasil.com (If you just want to compete in the CivBrasil Ladder, but not in the GotM's rank). Saves should be named as follows: [username]Jul09BTS.CivBeyondSwordSave

Submissions will be accepted until July 31st!

What are the rules?
The rules are fairly simple: Play fairly.

This means that you play within the spirit of the competition. As it is a friendly competition, we like to believe that there is no real incentive to cheat - but unfortunately, people do. Any persons found to be cheating will have their games removed, and there is a strong possibility that they will be banned from participating in the future.

Cheating includes (and is not limited to):

1. Playing the game multiple times and submitting the best effort (or even playing to get knowledge of the map, the replaying then starting the game again).
2. Using any sort of programs to edit the game or save files.
3. Altering the XML or using other mods that give you an unfair advantage.
4. Reloading an earlier save-file and replaying turns in a different way. The only time you may reload a save file is to start a new play session, and you must use the save file from the end of your previous session.

Also, if in doubt, ask. If you think you have found a new loop-hole or exploit, then we strongly suggest that you ask as to its legallity before you use it. The aim of the competition is not to see who can exploit the rules, and as such, we reserve the right to disqualify submissions based on exploits that are discovered later.

Good luck and Enjoy!!

*EDIT* Dang it! I'm having troubles uploading the screenshot and having troubles uploading the save game itself. Internet Explorer does not like this new 1BC site. Bear with me.

Great idea NC - I like it. Unfortunately I have no time and, more importantly, the new server has messed things up so much I can't even DL saves, or post stuff properly, or see video or... well it's a disaster and a big contributing factor to the apparent failing of this site (and it's all your fault Sean. Conspiracy theorists apply here, or elsewhere. Ferchrissake even Mongoose is having problems. jeez.)

The .CivBeyondSwordSave file has been uploaded on the original post above. Here is the .zip version of it if that works better for you guys.

I tried both downloads. You'll have to rename them as downloading files hasn't been the same since the server move. For example, even though the .zip file is named "Copy of JDM10-GotM July.zip"... if you download it, it will be called "Copy" with no .extentions.

Rename it to "copy.zip" for example and extract it. A little frustrating, but we'll have to make do.

This was an interesting one. I couldn't tell which countries were which on the diplomacy screens and that made everything more difficult. One of the other Montezuma's won a Domination victory in about 1892. It was fun to play through it all the same though.
