Prince level; standard tectonic world; normal barbs; mostly random everything else except that leader personalities are as you'd expect them to be.

Blimey if NC's up to AD1800 already I'd better get a move on.

With this mod civics make a lot of difference to the chances of revolution so if you're running a monarchy and take an enemy city, make sure you get your religion in quick and put a large garrison in there too. It's also better if you finish the buggers off completely though they have a nasty tendency of reappearing hundreds of years later with forces as modern as yours to take revenge!

This spoiler is a little snippet about my game so far, and the choice I have to make.

Spoiler Text Below - Highlight to See Hidden Text
There is a natural choke point to the West on this continent. I took advantage of that, allowing the Vikings to plop down a couple of cities to the east of it, and then sealing the borders. When they attacked as they inevitably do, a few brave men in the forest were able to hold the pass whilst my swordsmen took the nearest city and razed the furthest - since distance to the capital is crucial. Now, what to do about the Viking homeland? To take it I'm going to have to throw everything into military production and ruin my tech lead. If I leave them, they are going to be a pain in the a*se stirring up trouble for years

Further news (as I don't want to be left behind by NC)

Spoiler Text Below - Highlight to See Hidden Text
Decided to leave the Vikings and extracted Horesriding for a treaty. Concentrated instead upon building up infrastructure and trying to keep that damn ex-Viking city under control. Surprise surprise, as soon as the treaty was up, the Vikings declared war again, at the same time as the Arabians who had mysteriously appeared in the back yard. Arrrgh. Strategy is obvious now - kill Saladin and then move absolutely everything against the pesky Norse menace.  Current date AD1500. To be continued.

High summary of what I've done so far:
Spoiler Text Below - Highlight to See Hidden Text
I thought I'd play the opposite of what I normally do in my Emperor level games, and be a Wonder slut. Founded Buddhism and built lots of wonders with my capital with intention of spreading later through warfare.

Unfortunately, warfare came to me before I was ready and I've been playing catchup. No horse units? Booo!

I've got some cities, but not a lot and I'm a bit behind in tech and small compared to a couple other nations. I *think* I can win still, but I'm not sure.

I've been at war for most of the game.

I think this Mod is definitely harder than BTS. I'd be tempted to try it again after this game is over and try using similar strategies as I use in Emperor difficulty.

Couple other thoughts:
This mod is LONG! So many techs!
and wow, it sucks when you're used to no-tech trading to play with it on. lol.

AD1600

Spoiler Text Below - Highlight to See Hidden Text
I have control of my continent. Rebellions never seriously struck through dint of ruthless inquisition and serious garrisons. I moved the Palace to the centre purely because this helps control rebellion. Ethiopia (a couple of large islands) is to the west and is an easy target, but Korea and Persia to the east on another continent is more strategically valuable, though far more difficult. Mali has emerged as the greatest threat with more points than me and I know nothing about her at all, lost in the fog! Mansa Musa is way ahead in tech having already discovered Liberalism. Damn! Have built the Sistine Chapel just to make sure no one else pulls a surprise Cultural Victory. It's happened to me before and it is not nice. Culture also reduces rebellion (I THINK - not sure)

Wow, these games are long! Now I'm feeling glad that it's on Normal speed.

Where I'm at:
Spoiler Text Below - Highlight to See Hidden Text
I'm in the late 20th century now. Been fighting and fighting. Finally made the Vikings my vassal, probably several centuries after Tones did, and control almost all my continent. I'm doing well on Techs, but Mansu Mansa is a few techs ahead. I'm about ready to pick a fight with them, or Persia since they've been jerks to me most of the game and are right next door.

Ok, I'm up and running with this one and working my way through. What an odd shaped continent(?)

I really wish they had kept the original (original, not BTS) opening menu visuals and theme as an option in this mod. Small gripe I know, but I loved that tune. Maybe it even qualifies for me to post in the Music thread.

I tend to think that this mod has got the right balance between more additions (techs and units), but not too many more. Possibly I'd have a different feeling on that after a few tries at Marathon speed though, heh, I don't know.

The "tectonics" setting is supposed to produce a more realistic world. Hmmm, not sure about that. Our starting continent is a bit weird.

1730. Gotta figure out how to win this. Mali and Japan have got such a tech lead they must have been trading the stuff like best chums. Why hasn't Japan driven all over Mali by now? Made a terrible mistake in using the Apostolic Palace to stop everyone trading with Mali. All it did was *** Mansa Musa off. At least they are both a long sail away if they decide they really don't like me. Now running Monarchy, free speech, free market, free religion. Mali two turns away from steel. Argh.

I'm trying hard to get this finished so I can read about the other games. It is now 1780 and I have got to ask, wtf does the AI think it's doing?

Now
I know why Japan hasn't attacked Mali. The rotten bastids were planning on sailing round the world and attacking me! In a completely unforseen move they appear, dump troops on my mainland and bribe nearby Korea to declare war on me. Now this is clever stuff - except - they chose Mecca to attack. This was still garrisoned pretty well from the old days when I had to quell the odd uprising but they coulda had me if they'd offloaded all their galleons, but they only used one out of four. Eh? The others turned round and disappeared. Needless to say I have ordered an emergency frigate-building effort. Their expeditionary force has been annihilated but retalliation is out of the question. I must have too many points or something
